Cairo, Egypt On Monday, October 6, delegations from Israel and Hamas met in Egypt for the first time to talk about US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza. Egyptian officials helped with the talks, which dealt with several sensitive topics, such as Israel’s possible withdrawal and Hamas’ disarmament.
Reports say that both sides have said they support the larger framework of Trump’s peace plan, which aims to end the fighting for good, free hostages, and let humanitarian aid flow into Gaza, where it is badly needed. Several Arab and Western countries have also backed the plan.

Washington says that the talks are the best chance so far to end the two-year-old war that has killed tens of thousands of people and destroyed Gaza’s infrastructure. Trump has urged both sides to expedite negotiations and reach a final agreement, calling the plan a “historic opportunity” for peace.
The US president has made the initiative a key part of his foreign policy, saying many times that he is the only world leader who can bring peace to Gaza. His administration sees the talks as a very important chance to bring stability back to the region and improve relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
As the talks in Cairo go on, people are cautiously hopeful that the new diplomatic push could finally lead to an end to one of the region’s longest-lasting and most destructive wars.
