The Puerto Princesa South Road Junction (Abo-Abo) in the Municipality of Quezon, Palawan, has been maintained by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Palawan 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).

This will make it safer and easier for people and cars to get around on the roads. The project makes sure that one of the province’s most important road networks stays safe and useful for both people who live there and people who are just visiting.

Engineer Noel L. Fuentebella from the Palawan 2nd District told DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, about the project. He said that the work included fixing and improving a 1.5-kilometer stretch of road. This included putting a 50mm asphalt overlay on top of the old concrete pavement and carefully taking it out and putting it back in to make the road last longer and be stronger. There were also clear and easy-to-see pavement markings to help drivers, especially at night or in bad weather.

The preventative maintenance program has not only improved the roads, but it has also made it much easier for people to get around by cutting the time it takes to travel between towns from one hour to just 45 minutes. The project will not only make the roads better for the 3,000 people who use them every day, but it will also help Quezon and the towns around it grow economically and socially.
