MANILA, Philippines – On Tuesday, July 2, the first Tuesday of the month, the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) will have its weekly Forum at the conference hall of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. The event is open to the victorious Gilas Pilipinas girls’ team. They are celebrating being promoted in the FIBA U-18 Asia Cup at this session.
The public sports program will be attended by consultant and Gilas Pilipinas women’s coach Pat Aquino, together with coach Julie Amos, team captain Ava Fajardo, and the rest of the squad. The team just got back from an incredible campaign in Shenzhen, China, where they won the Asia Cup and were promoted to Division A.
After an outstanding four-game sweep, the Filipina cagers defeated Lebanon 95-64 in the Futian Sports Park final to win Division B. Early on Tuesday morning, the team is expected to return to the Philippines.
These driven and gifted girls’ adventure also started at the PSA Forum, where they made their debut a month prior to starting their campaign in the SEABA U18 competition in Ratchaburi, Thailand, which acted as a qualifier for the Asia Cup.
The program, which is sponsored by San Miguel Corporation, the Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO, Smart/PLDT, and ArenaPlus—the country’s 24/7 sports app—begins at 11 a.m.

PSA president Nelson Beltran, who is also The Star’s sports editor, encouraged members to attend.
