Authorities still have not identified four of the ten people who died in a multiple-vehicle crash on SCTEX on Thursday noon, May 1, 2025.
According to reports, the Tarlac Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMO) rescue team had difficulty retrieving some of the victims who were badly crushed when a bus crashed into around four vehicles.
The vehicles were reportedly lined up at the toll gate when they were hit by the passenger bus, whose driver was believed to have fallen asleep.
“This bus, from Solid North Transit Inc., hit four vehicles that were already stopped at the SCTEX toll plaza, waiting to pay at the toll booth. The first it hit was a Nissan Urvan. The Nissan Urvan then hit a Kia Sonet. The Kia Sonet hit a tractor head. The tractor head hit a Toyota Veloz,” the Tarlac Provincial Police Office explained to the media.
Meanwhile, at least 37 people were reported injured in the accident, including the bus conductor and passengers.
The driver is now in police custody and may face multiple charges, including reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide.
