Russian Vlogger Cannot Be Deported – Remulla

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that Russian vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy will serve his jail sentence in the Philippines. His request to be deported was also denied.

In a radio interview, Remulla said that the hearings for Zdorovetskiy’s case will start soon. He is facing three charges of unjust vexation, which carry a total sentence of 18 months in jail under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

“We will make sure he serves his sentence,” Remulla said.

Zdorovetskiy was arrested on April 3 after he allegedly disrespected and harassed Filipinos while filming his vlogs.

Remulla also said that both Russia and the United States do not want to accept him, even though he has a green card from the US.

“The problem is Russia does not want him, and the US also doesn’t want him even if he has a green card. So we don’t know where to send him,” Remulla added.

Remulla said that Zdorovetskiy earlier wrote to him asking to cancel the case because of his mental health issues.
