For the first time, Israel’s defense system called David’s Sling has shot down a ballistic missile from Iran.
This important event was shared by Doron Kadosh, a military reporter for Israel’s Army Radio.
Kadosh said this is the first time David’s Sling has stopped a missile of this kind.
David’s Sling was made to protect against many air threats. It can stop airplanes, helicopters, slow cruise missiles, and drones.
It can also block ballistic missiles coming from 70 to 300 kilometers away.

The system uses a two-stage missile that has radar and infrared guidance in its nose. This helps it find and hit its target.
One David’s Sling missile costs around $1 million.
It can be used in any kind of weather, and it can even change direction in mid-air to follow the target.
The Israeli army started using David’s Sling in 2017. It is now a key part of Israel’s layered missile defense, working with Iron Dome and Arrow systems.

In 2023, Finland also decided to buy the David’s Sling system from Israel.
On June 13, Iran launched a large missile attack on Tel Aviv. Israeli reports said dozens of ballistic missiles were fired. Before that, the Israeli Air Force had bombed Iranian nuclear sites in Natanz and Fordow, and missile bases in Kermanshah and Khorramabad.
