From Tradition to Triumph: The Success Story of Noel Bautista’s Nilupak Overload

A hardworking father in Manila has turned a humble delicacy into a sought-after street food business. Noel Bautista’s nilupak overload, priced at just P20 each, has become a hit among customers in Quiapo. Through his business, he manages to support his family’s daily needs and fund his children’s education.

In a recent episode of GMA 7’s “Good News,” Bautista’s thriving nilupak overload venture was featured, drawing attention to his bestselling ube-flavored nilupak topped with bukayo, margarine, and condensed milk.

Bautista’s recipe has been passed down through generations, originating from his grandfather before being refined by his father. As a child, he helped his parents prepare and sell the traditional snack, made primarily from cassava and white ube.

Today, Bautista single-handedly makes his nilupak at home in Tondo before transporting it to Quiapo using his cart. The journey takes him two to three hours on foot, but his efforts pay off—his nilupak sells for P20 per piece or P50 for three.

With an initial capital of P2,500 per batch, Bautista can produce 200 pieces a day. On a good day, he earns between P1,500 and P2,000 in profit.

His business not only sustains his family but also ensures a brighter future for his six children. His eldest is now in college, while three others are attending school.

“This is what I can pass on to my children—so they can finish their education,” Bautista shared.
