Emma Malabuyo Secures Silver at World Cup

Last Sunday in Cairo, Egypt, at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Apparatus World Cup, Emma Malabuyo, a Filipino artistic gymnast, won the silver medal in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Floor Exercise Finals.

With a final score of 12.666, the Filipino-American athlete finished in second place, just behind Japanese competitor Okamura Mana, who took home the gold medal with a score of 13.066. Laura Casabuena of Spain, with a score of 12.633 points, took home the bronze.

This Monday, Malabuyo used Instagram stories to inform her followers that she was on her way to Cottbus, Germany, where she was getting ready for the FIG Apparatus World Cup, which is scheduled to start on February 23.

If successful, Malabuyo could potentially become the third Filipino gymnast to qualify for the upcoming Olympics in Paris, France, joining the ranks of Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan.
