Duterte, De la Rosa, Roque Invited to House Drug War Hearing

MANILA, Philippines — Former President Rodrigo Duterte will be invited to take part in a joint investigation into illegal drugs, drug war deaths, and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) by a House of Representatives quad committee.

The committees on human rights, public accounts, dangerous drugs, and public order and safety make up this quad panel. These committees were recently given permission by the House to carry out the inquiry.

The head of the House Committee on Human Rights, which previously looked into the drug-war murders under the Duterte government, Representative Bienvenido Abante Jr. of the Manila 6th District, claimed that although the former president had been invited, he had not been up. “We will invite him again,” said Abante Jr.

It is also expected that former presidential spokesman Harry Roque and Senator Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa, the former head of the Philippine National Police, will be invited.

The start of the joint hearing is set for August 15, 2024.
