Pagasa: LPA Near Davao City May Develop into Tropical Depression

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Tuesday that a low-pressure area (LPA) off the coast of Davao City may develop into a tropical depression in the coming days.

The LPA was approximately 310 kilometers east-northeast of Davao City, according to weather expert Rhea Torres. The weather system that is affecting the Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region right now is producing clouds, sporadic showers of rain, and thunderstorms, according to the Pagasa forecaster.

“We are vigilantly monitoring this LPA, which could intensify into a tropical depression in the coming days,” Torres said.

“This weather disturbance is anticipated to bring rain across various parts of the country until the weekend,” she said. Meanwhile, dark skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are the result of the southwest monsoon, known locally as “habagat,” which is primarily hitting Palawan.

In addition, the state-run weather agency anticipated isolated thunderstorms and downpours over Occidental Mindoro, Bataan, Cavite, South Cotabato, BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), the Zamboanga Peninsula, and BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao).

Pagasa’s 5 a.m. prediction indicates that localized thunderstorms will also bring comparable weather conditions to the remainder of the nation. bulletin.
