Data from Publicus Asia’s PAHAYAG Second Quarter survey indicates that the internet has become the main news source for Filipinos. In terms of where they get their political news, respondents to the survey said that 68% of them go online, with television coming in second at 66%.
Sixty-three percent of respondents depend on social media, especially Facebook, for daily updates, indicating its importance. The nationwide survey, which was carried out between June 15 and June 19, demonstrated the persistent influence of digital platforms on public opinion among different groups of people.
GMA7 was the most trusted television news source, going from 47 to 53 percent in just one year.
Even though radio is used less often to provide daily news updates, listeners still have a moderate amount of trust in it. With trust scores of roughly 33–34 percent, DZRH, Bombo Radyo, and DZBB were the leading radio stations for news content.
