House Speaker Martin Romualdez has expressed full support for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s program to improve the lives of Filipino fishermen.
In a statement released on Sunday, July 6, Romualdez said that building more fish ports and cold storage facilities will greatly help fishermen.
“More fish ports and cold storage will lower transportation and production costs for our fishermen. Congress will fully support the building of modern and better facilities,” Romualdez said.
He also said he hopes his fellow lawmakers will support this during the review of the 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP).
Romualdez added, “Lawmakers will prioritize this program of President Marcos. This is one of the important steps the government must take to achieve food security for all Filipinos.”
It can be recalled that during President Marcos’ visit to General Santos City on July 4, he promised to build more fish ports and cold storage facilities across the country.
