Leyte Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez asked current members of the House of Representatives to work harder and do more than what the 19th Congress achieved. He said this during a gathering with over 60 first-time lawmakers at Imelda Hall in MalacaƱang on Wednesday night.
Romualdez shared that the 19th Congress was very productive. It approved 61 out of 64 bills under the Common Legislative Agenda (CLA) of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).
During the 19th Congress, 11,557 bills and 2,393 resolutions were filed. From these, 1,565 bills were approved, and 287 became laws.
āMany people sayāand I agreeāthat it was the most hardworking Congress in recent years,ā Romualdez said.
āBut I wonāt stop there,ā he added. āI believe the 20th Congress can do even betterāespecially with all of you here.ā
The dinner event was held after the second batch of the three-day Executive Course on Legislation for new and returning House members. The House Secretariat organized the course with the help of the University of the Philippines ā National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG).
