Prime Minister Carney Sends Condolences After Vancouver Accident

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney sent his sympathy to the families of those who died in an accident in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday, April 26, 2025 (Canada time). A speeding SUV hit people during a Filipino festival.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, April 27, Carney shared his feelings about the accident.

“I am devastated to hear about the horrific events at the Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver earlier this evening,” Carney said.

He added, “I offer my deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured, to the Filipino Canadian community, and to everyone in Vancouver. We are all mourning with you.”

Carney said they are closely watching the situation and thanked the first responders who helped after the accident.

Meanwhile, Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim also shared a message.

He said, “Our thoughts are with all those affected and with Vancouver’s Filipino community during this incredibly difficult time.”
