Philippines Set to Host FIVB Men’s World Championship

In an exciting development, the Philippines has been selected as the host country for the FIVB Men’s World Championship, marking a significant milestone in the country’s sports history. This prestigious event will see the participation of the top 32 volleyball teams from around the globe as they compete for the coveted title from September 12 to 28 next year.

At the FIVB general headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, Senator Pia Cayetano, who led the successful proposal, voiced confidence in the Philippines’ capacity to plan and execute an unforgettable event for teams and fans alike.

The renowned MOA Arena in Pasay and the storied Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City are being considered as the locations for this major competition, where Team Philippines will make its first appearance since the Tehran championship in 1974.

Cayetano noted the nation’s history of hosting top-tier events and the cooperation between the public and commercial sectors in making the FIVB Men’s World Championship a success.

With significant backing from both industries, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) won the bid, demonstrating the country’s prowess in sports tourism and its wide range of tourism attractions.

The Philippines’ diverse tourism experiences were highlighted by Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, who praised the country’s hosting of this international volleyball competition as a catalyst for economic growth in the sports tourism industry.

In addition to expressing his willingness to assume the role, PNVF President Ramon Suzara acknowledged the backing of important individuals and groups, such as the FIVB, Volleyball World, the Philippine government, and commercial sector partners under the direction of Manny V. Pangilinan.

The Philippines will host the FIVB Men’s World Championship, which is expected to be an exciting and unique event that will further raise the nation’s profile in the international sports community.
