Michael Pacquiao Follows Father’s Footsteps, Runs for Councilor in GenSan

Michael Stephen Pacquiao, the son of well-known politician and boxer Manny Pacquiao, is entering politics by running for a councilor position in General Santos City. He is a member of the political party founded by his father, the People’s Champ Movement.

Michael’s aunt, Lorelie Pacquiao, who is currently serving as the city’s mayor, is leading the local candidates and is set to face former mayor Ronnel Rivera in the upcoming election. Councilor José Orlando Acharon is Lorelie’s running mate.

Michael’s uncle, Bobby Pacquiao, also serves as a councilor, holding one of several political positions within the family. Another uncle, Rogelio Pacquiao, is the governor of Sarangani. In Sarangani province, Manny’s brother-in-law, Russel Jamora, serves as a board member, while his cousins, Zyrex and Mark Pacquiao, hold important posts. All are seeking reelection.

Incumbent councilor Virginia Llido remains on the party’s slate, while Michael replaces Shandee Llido. Meanwhile, after his unsuccessful presidential run in 2022, Manny Pacquiao is eyeing a return to the Senate.
