Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez has made history as the first Filipino and Asian to win “The Voice USA.”
In a heartfelt social media post, Vasquez expressed gratitude to his supporters, saying, “Thank you so much to my Filipinos everywhere and in America who gave so much love and support.”
His finale performance of “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman captivated audiences and became the most-watched video on The Voice’s official Facebook page even before he was crowned the winner.
Before his international success, Vasquez competed in the Philippines’ local singing contest Tawag ng Tanghalan on It’s Showtime, where he reached the semifinals.
One fan highlighted Vasquez’s inspiring journey in a comment on YouTube, saying, “7x rejected auditions in TNT (singing contest in the Philippines). No chair turns in The Voice Philippines and now! Top 5 Finale in The Voice USA.”
Sofronio’s victory not only cements his place in music history but also serves as a testament to perseverance and resilience.
