At least four Filipinos were hurt and taken to the hospital after Iran launched a missile attack on Israel, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
According to DFA Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega on Sunday, the injured Filipinos were from Rehovot, a city about 20 kilometers south of Tel Aviv.
“We are not sure if they were in the park or if they left their house because they were scared,” De Vega told ABS-CBN News.
Aside from the four injured, 12 other Filipinos were at a park when the missile hit the area.
The Philippine Embassy in Israel also reported that one Filipina lost her home after a missile hit Ramat Gan, west of Tel Aviv. She is now staying temporarily at a hotel.
“She survived because she was inside a bomb shelter when the missile hit,” the embassy said in a social media post.
“Her house was badly damaged, so she was rescued and will stay at a hotel in Tel Aviv for now,” the post added.
“The Embassy will give her more help and emotional support in the coming days,” it also said.
The Embassy is now studying if voluntary or forced repatriation is needed for Filipinos in the affected areas.
According to De Vega, there are about 30,000 Filipinos currently in Israel.
