Taytay, Palawan — Local residents and tourists traveling along the Puerto Princesa North Road can now enjoy smoother and safer journeys following the completion of an asphalt overlay project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Palawan 1st District Engineering Office.
According to Palawan 1st District Engineer Rommel P. Aguirre in his report to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, the project covered a 1.4-kilometer stretch of the national road in the Municipality of Taytay. The asphalt overlay was carried out to extend the lifespan of the existing concrete pavement, ensuring its longer serviceability and enhanced riding comfort for motorists.

District Engineer Aguirre explained that the improvement aims to prevent premature deterioration of the pavement caused by the regular passage of heavy vehicles and trucks, while also reducing maintenance costs in the long run.

The newly improved road section not only supports economic activity and local mobility, but also strengthens Taytay’s growing reputation as a gateway to Northern Palawan’s eco-tourism destinations.
The DPWH continues to prioritize infrastructure projects that enhance accessibility, promote public safety, and boost tourism development across the MIMAROPA Region.
