MANILA, Philippines – In the process of becoming a citizen of the Philippines, Bennie Boatwright is actively learning Filipino culture.
Boatwright shared his experience trying halo-halo at a neighborhood restaurant in Manila on the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Instagram page.
The SBP wrote in their post, “@benniebuckets enjoying halo-halo.”
Known for his PBA Commissioner’s Cup stint with the San Miguel Beermen in 2023–24, Boatwright is in the nation finalizing his naturalization process in order to become a member of Gilas Pilipinas.
If successful, Boatwright will become one of the famous athletes who have adopted Filipino citizenship, like Ange Kouame, Justin Brownlee, the star player from the Asian Games, and Utah Jazz Jordan Clarkson.
