Sen. Imee Marcos filed her certificate of candidacy (CoC) for a second term in the 2025 elections on Wednesday, becoming the first candidate to appear at The Manila Hotel. Accompanying her were her mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos, and her sons, Borgy and Michael.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s sister, Imee Marcos (not Isabel), registered with the Nacionalista Party but emphasized her independence, saying, “I am not an ally of any sector or group, so I choose to remain independent and strong.” She clarified that she avoided joining the administration coalition because of the mix of political parties, preferring to keep her options open for endorsements from various sectors.
“It’s important for me to reach out to all sectors and get the work done,” she stated. Marcos decided to run on her own, even though she was initially part of her brother’s slate.
Senator Marcos filed her certificate of candidacy (CoC) one day after Senator Francis Tolentino, who was the first candidate running for re-election.
