President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. praised U.S. Calling President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw his candidacy a “demonstration of genuine statesmanship,” Marcos stated on his official X account, formerly Twitter, that Biden’s choice not to run for reelection.
The 81-year-old Biden declared on Sunday that he would not be a candidate for the Democratic Party’s nomination in the upcoming presidential election, instead Vice President Kamala Harris.
Marcos praised Biden for his support of the Philippines during one of his four official visits to the US.
“We thank him for his constant and unwavering support for the Philippines during delicate and difficult times. We wish him well for the remainder of his presidency and for all his future endeavors,” Marcos told reporters.
