Former Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and former President Rodrigo Duterte are the targets of graft and plunder proceedings brought by former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. The accusations were filed with the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday.
The government contracts that were given to Davao-based CLTG Builders and Alfrego Builders and Supply—businesses purportedly controlled by Senator Go’s father and sibling—are the subject of the accusations.
Trillanes claims that from 2007 to 2018, CLTG and Alfrego Builders won government contracts totaling an incredible P6.6 billion. Trillanes used Section 1(d) of the plunder legislation (Republic Act 7080) in his lawsuit. This section defines ill-gotten riches acquisition as taking unfair use of connections, official positions, or authority in order to enrich oneself at the expense of the Filipino people.
“CLTG Builders and Alfrego Builders & Supply were awarded numerous substantial projects worth billions of pesos during the period when Respondent Bong Go held a Cabinet position appointed by Respondent Duterte,” the complaint claims.
Trillanes contended that the Filipino people and the Republic of the Philippines suffered unfairly as a result of Senator Go’s immediate family being benefited by these activities. According to him, it is obvious that Go’s family members’ sole proprietorships have been awarded public infrastructure projects valued at billions of dollars, which is against the law.
Trillanes included Go’s father Desiderio and his half-brother Alfredo as respondents in the complaint in addition to Duterte and Go.
