Vice President Sara Duterte told the public not to vote for the Tingog Party-list. She said voting for Tingog is like voting for House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who is running again as a congressman in Leyte.
A video of VP Sara’s interview with the media has gone viral. In the video, she was asked about the comments made by Rep. Jude Acidre from Tingog. Acidre said he was confused why VP Sara trusted her legal team in her impeachment case if she could not explain the issue of confidential funds.
VP Sara explained that it’s not that she can’t explain the confidential funds – she doesn’t want to explain it to people who are close to Romualdez in the House of Representatives.
She said:
“Jude Acidre is the second nominee of Tingog. He wants me to answer questions about the confidential funds. But Tingog belongs to Martin Romualdez. That means, they want me to answer to him. Why would I do that?”
She also added:
“Many people ask me what they can do. One thing you can really do is not vote for Tingog.”
“A vote for Tingog is a vote for Martin Romualdez.”
“Think about it – he already has three seats in the House of Representatives: his seat in Tacloban, two seats from Tingog, one for his wife Yedda, and one for Jude Acidre.”
VP Sara said the reason she is silent about the confidential fund issue is not because she has no answer, but because she doesn’t want to talk about it with people connected to Martin Romualdez.
As of now, the side of Speaker Romualdez has not given any response.
