Vice President Sara Duterte criticized President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. again for how he is handling the flood control corruption issue. She said the public is losing trust because the investigations are slow and unclear. She also questioned how the 2025 national budget was approved, saying it removed billions of pesos that should have gone to Filipinos.
Duterte repeated her claim that Congress changed the Department of Education (DepEd) budget and turned funds for classrooms into “pork barrel” for lawmakers. She resigned as DepEd secretary in 2024, saying she did not want to be part of the issue.
Her statement came a day after rallies by Iglesia Ni Cristo members and Duterte supporters in Metro Manila. Some protesters called for Marcos to resign, but Duterte did not join the rallies.
However, Duterte is also facing questions about her own transparency. House investigations found suspicious names in her confidential fund records, including fake names confirmed by the PSA. Her office also spent ₱125 million in confidential funds in just 11 days in 2022. She had also been criticized for having confidential funds in DepEd even though it is not a security agency.
