UFC Champion Jon Jones Retires at 37

UFC President Dana White has confirmed that Jon Jones is retiring from mixed martial arts.

Jon Jones is known as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. He became the youngest UFC Champion at only 23 years old in 2011. Many people believe he is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters ever. He is currently ranked #3 in the UFC.

Jones has had a nearly perfect career. His only loss was a disqualification against Matt Hamill, and one no-contest with Daniel Cormier. He ruled both the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions. He beat many top fighters but had tough fights with Alexander Gustafsson and Dominick Reyes.

However, Jones’ career also had problems. He was inactive for long periods and had many issues outside the octagon. These included arrests for drunk driving, drug use, and domestic violence. These incidents often got more attention than his fights.

Recently, Jones received criticism for not fighting Tom Aspinall, the interim UFC heavyweight champion. Fans were angry and even signed a petition to take away his title. Nearly 200,000 people signed it.

Now, that won’t be necessary. With Jones retiring, Tom Aspinall becomes the new undisputed UFC heavyweight champion.

Jones said he retired after “a lot of reflection.” But right after his retirement, news broke that he was charged for leaving the scene of an accident in New Mexico.

Jon Jones ends his MMA career at age 37 with a record of 28 wins, 1 loss, and 1 no-contest.
