U.S. Fires 30 Missiles at Iran’s Nuclear Sites

The United States has attacked Iran’s nuclear sites using 30 Tomahawk missiles launched from a submarine. U.S. officials confirmed the missiles came from a nuclear-powered submarine and hit a facility in Isfahan. The attack was part of a bigger military strike using both air and sea forces.

Along with the missile launch, seven U.S. B-2 Spirit bombers flew from Missouri and dropped 14 very large bombs called GBU-57s on Iran’s nuclear sites in Natanz and Fordo. These bombs are strong enough to break deep underground bunkers.

President Donald Trump spoke from the White House, saying the strike had completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear centers. General Dan Caine gave more details at a Pentagon briefing. He said 75 special weapons were used, including the powerful 30,000-pound bombs — the first time these were used in battle.

U.S. fighter jets also joined the mission to destroy Iran’s air defenses before the bombers arrived. Gen. Caine said the U.S. used high-speed weapons to protect their planes and that no U.S. aircraft were attacked during the mission.

After the airstrike, the submarine-launched Tomahawk missiles hit the Isfahan site. The submarine used might have been the USS Georgia, which can carry over 150 Tomahawk missiles, though the Pentagon did not confirm which sub was involved.

Tomahawk missiles are long-range and guided by satellites. They can fly low and avoid enemy radar. The latest version, Block V, has better navigation and can send back photos after hitting the target. These missiles have been used in past wars like those in Libya and Syria.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the mission was only about stopping Iran’s nuclear weapons program. He said, “This is the line the President set. We hit back to stop nuclear threats. Now is the time to talk peace.”

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, had warned the U.S. before the strike that any attack would cause big damage. Iran’s foreign ministry said this kind of action could lead to a major war in the region.

Groups supported by Iran, like the Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Iraq, also threatened to attack U.S. interests. A Houthi official said, “Any attack on an Islamic country will be met with resistance.”

Experts say Iran may not strike back fully but could choose smaller actions to respond. One analyst said, “We are in new and dangerous territory, and anything could happen next.”
