Typhoon Opong (BUALOI) left widespread destruction in Calbayog City, Samar, early Friday morning, September 26, with reports of damaged houses, uprooted trees, and flooding in several areas.

Residents along Navarro and Nijaga Streets witnessed the aftermath of Typhoon Opong as heavy winds and rain destroyed homes, while fallen trees crushed vehicles. Flooding was also reported, affecting mobility and daily activities in the area.

In Barangay San Policarpo, Purok 2, strong winds ripped off the roof of a covered court, tore down the ceiling of a gasoline station, and damaged several homes. Locals said the destructive winds and rains intensified around 2:00 a.m., leaving many residents scrambling for safety.

According to the latest PAGASA Weather Update, Typhoon Opong made another landfall at 5:30 a.m. in Milagros, Masbate. By 7:00 a.m., it was spotted over the coastal waters of Mandaon, Masbate, carrying maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h and gusts reaching 150 km/h.
Disaster response teams have been mobilized to clear debris, restore road access, and provide assistance to affected families. Authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to stay vigilant and closely monitor official advisories as Typhoon Opong continues its path across the region.
