CEBU CITY, Philippines — On Friday, July 12, at the Cebu City Sports Center, Charles Daniel Turla of Western Visayas (Region 6) set a new record for the boys’ javelin throw at Palarong Pambansa Elementary School. Turla won the gold medal in his first-ever Palarong Pambansa competition with a throw of 60.26 meters.
Jerick Mendoza from Calabarzon (Region 4A) owned the previous record, which he set at the 2016 Legazpi City games, with 57.50 meters.
On Saturday, July 13, Turla, who will be entering grade 7, is also expected to compete in the shot put competition.
