The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will visit the United States because of an invitation from former President Donald Trump.
According to Foreign Affairs Secretary Theresa Lazaro, Marcos is the first ASEAN leader to be invited by Trump to the White House.
During his visit, President Marcos will stay at Blair House, the official guest house near the White House.
The visit is scheduled from July 20 to 22. Marcos and Trump may talk about strengthening the relationship between the US and the Philippines.
This visit comes after Trump announced a 20 percent tariff on Philippine products entering the US.
