Seat 11A: A Lucky Seat in Two Deadly Plane Crashes

A strange and sad story has gone viral after a Thai celebrity shared his plane crash experience — and it has something in common with a recent tragic crash.

Last week, an Air India plane crashed just 30 seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India. It was heading to London. Out of the 242 people on board, only one man survived — 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. He was sitting in seat 11A.

In a video taken after the crash, Ramesh could be seen injured but alive. He said he found a small opening near the door close to his seat and was able to escape before the fire got worse. Sadly, everyone else on the plane died.

Now comes the surprising part. A Thai singer and actor, Ruangsak James Loychusak, said he also survived a plane crash 27 years ago — and he was also in seat 11A.

Ruangsak was on Thai Airways Flight 261, flying from Bangkok to Surat Thani. That crash killed 101 of the 146 people onboard. He said when he saw the news of the Air India crash, it brought back memories and gave him goosebumps. He shared on Facebook: “The lone survivor of the plane crash in India was sitting in the same seat number as me, 11A.”

Experts say that different things helped each man survive, such as the plane’s layout and where it crashed. But this odd detail about seat 11A might make it a lucky — or spooky — seat for future passengers.
