Red Alert Issued Over Threats to President Marcos Jr.

The Presidential Security Command (PSC) has responded to possible threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. by raising its alert status to red.

Major General Jesus Nelson Morales, the head of the command, issued the heightened alert on November 23, according to confirmation from PSC Civil Relations Officer Major Nestor Endozo on Monday. Following Vice President Sara Duterte’s assertion that she had previously thought of having President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez killed if they were to attack her, the decision was made.

Security measures at Malacañang Complex have intensified, including increased personnel deployment and stricter inspections of vehicles and visitors. “We cannot disclose all adjustments, but these will be evident during the President’s upcoming engagements,” Endozo told reporters in Filipino.

He added that there has been no official statement from the Presidential Management Staff or the Presidential Communications Office regarding changes to the President’s public schedule. However, coordination and security efforts have been significantly heightened.
