“Queen of Tears” Breaks Viewership Records, Announces Special Episodes

The hit South Korean drama “Queen of Tears” concluded on Sunday night with a record-breaking viewership rating, making it the highest-rated drama on its network, tvN. The series finale achieved a remarkable 24.9 percent viewership rating, as reported by the Korea Times, surpassing the previous record held by “Crash Landing on You,” which garnered a 21.7 percent rating for its 2020 finale.

“Queen of Tears” is a 16-part drama that tells the story of Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won), a conglomerate heiress, and her husband Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun), a lawyer and farmer’s son. The couple, on the verge of divorce after three years of marriage, finds renewed love when Hae-in is diagnosed with a terminal illness. The show’s success culminated in a massive audience turnout for its final episode.

On Monday, following the successful finale, Kim Soo-hyun released “Way Home,” a song for the series’ official soundtrack. The track is now available on various music streaming platforms.

However, the “Queen of Tears” excitement isn’t over yet. tvN announced that two special episodes titled “Queen of Tears: Miraculous Recordzip” will air on May 4 and 5 at 9:20 p.m. KST. These episodes are expected to provide additional content and insights into the story of the BaekHong couple and their journey.

Despite this exciting news, there is currently no confirmation if these special episodes will be available on Netflix. GMA News Online has reached out to the streaming platform to inquire about their availability in the Philippines but has not yet received a response.

For now, “Queen of Tears” fans can enjoy the complete series on Netflix, while they eagerly await more information on the upcoming special episodes.
