He decided to give “libre sakay” because his son Dave passed the Civil Engineer board exam. Inside his jeepney, he placed a sign saying, “Free ride today as thanks because my son passed the Board Exam as a Civil Engineer.”
A passenger named Judy Tereso shared the story online, and it quickly became viral. Many people were touched by the father’s simple but heartfelt gesture. Edwin said that he once dreamed of becoming an engineer, but because of poverty, he had to give up his dream. Instead, he worked hard every day so his son could continue the dream he could not reach.
