President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered a full investigation into the case of the missing sabungeros after a witness claimed they were thrown into Taal Lake.
A man, only known by the name “Totoy,” came forward and said the people involved in the online cockfighting issue were killed and dumped in the lake.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President wants to find out who is truly behind the disappearances and make sure they are punished.
Castro also said the Department of Justice is now checking the statements of four witnesses to see if one of them can become a state witness.
She added that aside from witness testimonies, strong proof like videos or photos is needed to solve the case.
Castro assured the public that the Palace trusts the Philippine justice system to give justice to the victims and their families.
The disappearance of many cockfighting fans has been a big issue for a long time. Families have been asking for answers and justice. This new information gives more urgency to the case, which has been unsolved for over a year.
