Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez praised the Philippine National Police (PNP) for stronger and more effective law enforcement under the Marcos administration. This led to a decrease in focus crimes and the quick arrest of the suspect in the Antipolo road rage shooting.
Romualdez recognized PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil for the reforms that improved crime prevention and police response. He said these efforts are restoring public trust and proving that the law is being enforced.
Romualdez referred to the March 30 incident on Marcos Highway, Boso-Boso, Antipolo City, where a heated road argument turned into a shooting. Four people were injured, including the suspect’s girlfriend.
The congressman also thanked the police for quickly arresting the suspected gunman, 28-year-old businessman Kenneth Alajar Bautista.
The swift action in high-profile cases like this sends a clear message that crime and impunity have no place in society.
Meanwhile, annual data shows a 7.31% decrease in focus crimes, from 41,717 cases in 2023 to 38,667 cases in 2024.
