People in Metro Manila can now buy rice for only P20 per kilo.
According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, the sale of cheap rice has started not only in the Visayas but also in Metro Manila right after the elections. This is part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to expand the program that began in Cebu City on May 1.
Castro said that some Kadiwa centers in the National Capital Region have already started selling the P20 per kilo rice.
You can buy this affordable rice at these Kadiwa centers:
- Department of Agriculture Central Office
- Levi Town, Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque City
- AmVa MPC Housing, Valenzuela City
- Bureau of Plant Industry, Manila
- Kadiwa sites in Malabon, Taguig, Mandaluyong, Pasay City, Agora Market, and Navotas City Hall
There will also be P20 rice in 32 Kadiwa centers in Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Mindoro, and Rizal.
Castro hopes this program will help lower rice prices in the markets without hurting the income of farmers.
