Olanguan Bridge Rehabilitation Boosts Safety and Connectivity in Palawan

People and vehicles can now travel around Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, on safer and more dependable routes thanks to the Olanguan Bridge in Barangay Binduyan on Puerto Princesa North Road.

The Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) Palawan 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) carried out the work to reinforce the bridge and ensure its long-term safety.

The work included strengthening slope protection to prevent erosion and other building damage, as well as repairing and rebuilding drain pipes.

Restoring the 36-meter bridge was part of the project’s scope, according to a report submitted to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan by CESO III, Palawan 3rd District Engineer Amelia B. Fajardo.

Workers removed the old slope protection, replaced it with concrete scour and slope protectors, painted steel girders, repaired bridge drain pipes, and painted bridge railings to improve the left side of Approach A.

The initiative reduces the likelihood of typhoons and heavy rains and makes roads safer, according to the DPWH. The project’s objectives are to strengthen the town’s structure, make the town easier to navigate, and reduce the cost of long-term maintenance.

Without harming the environment, this will enable Puerto Princesa and the surrounding villages to thrive.
