People had a hard time getting around and getting agricultural goods to the market in Barangay Tigwi, Torrijos, Marinduque, for years because there was no paved road from the farm to the market.

A resident of Tigwi Torrijos, Marinduque, thanked the workers for fixing the road in their neighborhood.

“Kami ay nagpapasalamat sa DPWH sa pag punta nila dito sa aming lugar upang maayos ang aming kalsada”.
The Marinduque District Engineering Office (DEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished the concreting project. Now, local farmers can get their crops to markets, processing plants, and distribution centers faster thanks to a more reliable road network.

Richard Emmanuel P. Ragragio, the Marinduque District Engineer, told DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, that the project included building a Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) that was 1,000.00 linear meters long, 5.00 meters wide, and 0.20 meters thick.

It also has gravel shoulders that are 1.50 meters wide on both sides and 357.30 cubic meters of stone masonry, which will make it stable and last for a long time in rural areas. The project has not only made the infrastructure better, but it has also cut travel time from three hours to just 15 minutes. This helps people get around more easily and makes it easier to move crops and cattle.
