Missing Sabungeros Case Involves Big Money – DOJ

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said that a powerful and wealthy person is behind the case of the missing Sabungeros, who were reportedly thrown into Taal Lake.

In a media interview on Thursday, June 26, 2025, Remulla said the mastermind might have bribed some government officials to hide the crime.

“This is a strong enemy. The money involved in e-sabong (online cockfighting) is so big, it might even reach the judiciary. We might need to talk to the Chief Justice because this is a serious issue,” Remulla said.

He added that even the Supreme Court could possibly be influenced by the suspect, according to a witness known as “Totoy.”

“This mastermind, according to Totoy, can even reach the SC. That’s why we need to speak with the Chief Justice,” he added.

Totoy is a whistleblower who recently claimed that 34 missing cockfight bettors were killed, including some drug lords. The suspects are still unnamed but reportedly include members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Remulla said they believe in Totoy’s claims.

“Totoy is credible. He not only gave his testimony but also has video proof of what he said,” Remulla said.
