Malacañang said it is still not clear if President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will support the Divorce Bill, which seeks to legalize divorce in the Philippines.
According to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the President wants to first review the details and provisions of the bill that was filed in Congress.
Castro explained that many parts of the bill are already included in the current laws about legal separation and annulment.
She also mentioned that the Church already allows annulment.
However, Castro stressed that President Marcos wants to promote stronger marriages and healthy relationships between couples, especially for the sake of the children.
The proposed Absolute Divorce Bill was reintroduced in the 20th Congress and was already approved in the House of Representatives last year.
