President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured that the Philippines will not back down from any threats.
This came after China again used a water cannon on a Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) ship.
The President said the Philippines will never give up despite China’s continuous harassment of its ships in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
He stressed that Philippine ships will not leave Bajo de Masinloc because it is inside the country’s exclusive economic zone.
President Marcos said China will continue to feel the presence of the Philippines in the area because the country will keep asserting its sovereign rights in the WPS.
He explained that the Philippines is only defending itself from the harassment and has never acted aggressively.
Regarding the tension between China and Taiwan, Marcos said the Philippines is preparing for any possible outcome because the conflict could drag the country into trouble.
He added that the Philippines cannot simply do nothing, especially since there are Filipinos living in those countries.
