Marcos Promises Strong Leadership in Campaign Speech

On the first day of the campaign for the Alliance for the New Philippines (APBP), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. strongly criticized the opposition’s senatorial candidates. The event took place in the Marcos family’s stronghold in Ilocos Norte.

During the APBP rally at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena in Laoag, President Marcos proudly stated that none of the administration’s candidates have been involved in extrajudicial killings (EJK), stolen public money, or pretended to be a prophet while harming women and children. He also pointed out that none of the administration’s candidates have supported China’s actions against Filipino fishermen in the West Philippine Sea.

He reminded the crowd that opposition candidates, like Senator Ronald dela Rosa, are linked to the violent anti-drug war, while another opposition candidate, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, is facing sexual abuse charges.

President Marcos also emphasized that the administration’s candidates have extensive experience, unlike others who were simply told to buy vinegar and then given a certificate of candidacy. He asked, “Do we want to return to a past where our country was treated like a gambling den for foreigners? Do we want to go back to a path filled with the blood of innocent children taken from their mothers, their homes, and their futures?”

Marcos also highlighted that only the administration has a complete senatorial slate, unlike others who are struggling to find candidates.

According to Navotas City Representative Toby Tiangco, the campaign manager for the Alliance, each candidate has a proven track record and is ready to continue President Bongbong’s economic and legislative agenda.

The coalition’s senatorial lineup includes former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Senator Pia Cayetano, Senator Imee Marcos, Senator Lito Lapid, former Senators Panfilo Lacson and Manny Pacquiao, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Senator Francis Tolentino, former DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo, and Deputy Speaker Camille Villar.

In addition to Ilocos Norte, the Alliance will also hold kickoff rallies in Iloilo City, Carmen in Davao del Norte, and Pasay City, representing three major regions of the country.
