The lawyer of former President Rodrigo Duterte, Atty. Nicholas Kaufman, suggested that the results of Senator Imee Marcos’ Senate investigation should be sent to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In his 10-page request to the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I, Kaufman said the findings in Senator Marcos’ report could prove that politics was the reason behind Duterte’s arrest and surrender to the court.
He said the report shows that the arrest had a political motive and was part of a government-wide effort to bring down the Duterte family.
Kaufman earlier praised Senator Marcos’ investigation, which looked into the alleged illegal arrest of former President Duterte for ICC custody.
