Improved Road in Santa Cruz Spurs Economic Growth, Enhances Community Mobility

The Marinduque District Engineering Office (DEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a major road repair project, making it safer and easier for people and farmers in the barangays of Alobo, Morales, and Tamayo in Santa Cruz, Marinduque, to travel.

The road that hadn’t been built for years made it difficult to transport farm goods to the town and nearby markets. This made it more expensive to haul things and hurt the profits of local farmers.

The newly fixed road will not only lower shipping costs, but it should also boost profits because farmers will be able to move their goods more quickly and easily. The program also makes it easier for people to get around, which helps them reach government services and job opportunities.

Richard Emmanuel P. Ragragio, the Marinduque District Engineer, sent a report to Gerald A. Pacanan, CESO III, the DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director. The report said that the project involved putting down concrete on a road that was 4,000 lineal meters long, putting in 3,756 lineal meters of line canal, and building 530 cubic meters of stone masonry. There were also 38 solar-powered LED lights put up along the way to make it safer and easier to get to.

Now that the project is done, it is already affecting the neighborhood. Local businesses and farmers are excited about having better access to markets and stronger economic growth. Residents can now get around more easily and safely. The DPWH said that this is part of its ongoing effort to make rural infrastructure better, which will make life better for farmers in Marinduque.
