First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will not go with her husband, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., on his upcoming trip to the United States this Sunday, July 20.
In an interview on Wednesday, July 16, Palace Press Officer and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) official Atty. Claire Castro said that FL Liza will not join the President on his visit to Washington. However, some Cabinet members will travel with him.
Castro did not say why the First Lady will not be part of the US trip.
Since becoming president, Marcos has already visited the US four times. These visits include:
- The United Nations General Assembly in September 2022
- The APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in February 2023
- His meeting with then US President Joe Biden
- The US-Philippines-Japan Trilateral Summit in April 2024
Meanwhile, Castro denied the viral police report on Facebook linking FL Liza to the death of businessman Paolo Tantoco. The report claimed he died from a cocaine overdose.
Castro said, “That police report posted on Facebook is completely fake.”
She added, “Anyone can check with the Beverly Hills Police Department. The pink-colored part of the report, if I remember correctly, was just added by someone and is not real.”
