Education, Public Works Lead in 2025 Budget Proposal of P6.352 Trillion

MANILA, Philippines — The Executive branch presented the House of Representatives with the proposed P6.352 trillion national budget for 2025 on Monday. The P585 billion planned budget exceeds the P5.768 trillion allotted this year.

The Department of Education will receive the largest amount, P977.6 billion, as required by law. P900 billion would go to the public works sector, and P297.6 billion will go to the health sector.

The planned budget of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation is P74.4 billion, which is more than the P61.5 billion allocated for this year.

The Defense Department has been allotted P256.1 billion, while the Department of the Interior and Local Government will receive P278.4 billion. Over this year’s P106.3 billion, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development is expected to receive P114.2 billion.

“We will make sure that enough funds will be allocated for social services and for programs that will sustain our economic growth,” House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said upon receiving the budget proposal. Other House officials in attendance included House Committee on Appropriations Chairman Elizaldy Co.
