Suga from BTS has given 5 billion won (around $3.6 million) to Yonsei Severance Hospital to build a treatment center for people with autism. The center will be named after his real name, Min Yoon Gi.
On June 23, the hospital shared that they will open a special center to help people with autism learn, grow, and live more independently.
That same day, a ceremony was held to start the building of the Min Yoon Gi Treatment Center. It will help children and teenagers with autism by offering therapy, like speech, behavior, and mental health support. The center will also have research programs to improve care.
Last year, Suga met with Professor Chun Geun Ah, who leads the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department. They talked about the need for long-term help for autism—support that can last more than 10 years. Suga then decided to donate 5 billion won to help build the center.
Together, Suga and Professor Chun also worked on a new program called MIND. MIND stands for:
- Music – using music to help healing
- Interaction – learning how to connect with others
- Network – building healthy social relationships
- Diversity – respecting differences and including everyone
Professor Chun said she was thankful not just for Suga’s donation, but also for his time, effort, and sincere heart. She praised Suga for being serious, kind, and passionate about helping children with autism. She hopes the center and MIND program will help children become strong and happy members of society.
Suga also shared his thoughts. He said that during the seven months he worked on this project, he learned how music can help people express their feelings and connect with others. He said he feels honored and happy to help and will keep doing his best to support more children with autism.
