A Thai court has issued an arrest warrant for former Miss Universe co-owner Anne Jakrajutatip after she failed to attend the verdict hearing in her 30-million-baht fraud case.
Reports say the South Bangkok Criminal Court believed she was avoiding justice because she did not give any reason for her absence. The case involves accusations that Jakrajutatip and her company convinced an investor to buy corporate bonds even though they could not repay the money.
Because she skipped the hearing, the court ordered her bail to be fully forfeited and moved the verdict date to December 26.
Some reports also claim that Jakrajutatip has fled to Mexico. Rumors say she converted billions of baht into cryptocurrency, but her company JKN Global denied this, saying their financial problems were caused by the weak economy, not fraud.
Jakrajutatip stepped down as Miss Universe CEO in June as her legal issues grew. She is known as an influential transgender figure who bought the Miss Universe Organization in 2023.
