Kabataan Partylist Representative Raoul Manuel has expressed concern over the spread of the adult-content website “Pornhub” among young people.
During a House Committee on Basic Education and Culture briefing on the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Manuel pointed out the effects of pornographic websites’ growing popularity.
“I’m very alarmed,” Manuel said. “Although we’re not ranked number one, the Philippines is currently the second-largest user of Pornhub as of December 2024.”
Manuel fears this trend may negatively affect the youth’s mindset, particularly their understanding of relationships.
“As a youth representative, I’m alarmed that the widespread viewing of pornography in our country may mislead our youth on how to build healthy relationships,” he said.
Manuel emphasized the importance of providing systematic guidance for the youth.
“It’s better to have a structured way to teach our youth the right values and proper relationship education,” Manuel stated.
According to a Manila Bulletin report, Pornhub, a Canadian-owned company, ranked as the 16th most visited website in the world as of August 2024.
